Why would you put up a fake tree when putting up a real tree is so much fun? Grandma, Daniel, and I went to a Christmas tree lot (Daddy was working) to pick out the perfect tree for Daniel's First Christmas. The pressure to get it right was high, so I was a little dismayed when the man who sold us the tree from hell looked more like he summers as a Carnie, than St. Nick. That was just the beginning. I decided that I could put the tree up by myself while Brian slept...or, that I could at least get it in the stand.

Two hours later...

The irony is that when I made the first cut, I thought I had taken off too much!

It finally went in the stand, but tightening the bolts was another matter. At this point, I decided that the tree was going to either break a window or my neck and decided to call it quits. Tree - 1, Cathy - 0.

Brian gets up, and quickly fixes what had taken me over 2 hours to do...Finally, the tree is up. Tree - 1, Us - 1.

Just when we thought it was safe to decorate the tree..."Is the trunk crooked, or is the tree leaning?"...We decide to buy a new stand. Actually, while I was stringing lights, it started to tip. Enter new, plastic, and better built tree stand. Now it HAS to be safe to decorate, but Wow, what a crooked tree! Unfortunately, we came home to a tipped over tree and 3 quarts of water on the floor (I was too upset to get a picture). Thankfully, the tree is finally up after an emergency call to Grandma and Grandpa...Tree - 2, Us - 2. However, we have much more to be grateful for this Christmas than whether or not the tree cooperates...But, if it falls one more time, Santa will have to put Daniel's gifts under a house plant!
